Just The Beginning

First of all, I would like to welcome you to In Her Shoes! Thank you for checking this out and being a part of my world.

I decided to start a travel blog after seeing my friends' and family's reactions to my photos and quick stories I posted on Facebook during my vacation to Hawaii last year. I never imagined people would be so interested in seeing my husband and me go on adventures! I mean, I've always been a bit shy, and I always thought we tended to lead a fairly boring life. As it turns out, I come out of my shell when I'm in a new place to explore with new people to meet. And as for a boring lifestyle, that gets thrown out the window when we travel! Derik and I love to go hiking, kayaking, snorkeling... anything slightly adventurous that sounds like fun.

As for this website, tons of exciting content is on its way! Next month I will have the opportunity to travel back to Kauai and I'm excited to take you along with me! When I visited the island last year I fell in love with the culture and the beauty of the land. I discovered more opportunities for adventure than I had ever imagined, and I can't wait to show them to you next month!

In the meantime I have photos from last year's trip that you can check out in the 'Kauai' section of the site, as well as photos from some of my other (more local) day trip adventures which you can find under the 'Nightscapes' or 'Desert Hikes' pages. As the title implies, this is only the beginning! Big things are coming and I am learning how to do all of this as I go. I'm sure mistakes will be made, and things won't be perfect... but mistakes are merely the building blocks to success, and I believe that imperfection is what makes this world so unique and interesting. This is my step 1. I hope you will join me for the rest of the trail.
